Politics in Project Management

Politics in Project Management was a theme of the second PM Forum, which took place on 17 April 2002 at MT&DCs training center in Falenty. The meeting gathered more than 40 executives representing some important corporate players on the Polish market in different industries (such as telecommunications, IT, finance, or power industry).

The notable assembly was greeted by MT&DC Board Member Tomasz Borucki, who talked about the idea of the meeting and the main subject of discussion.

Main conclusions of ther meeting:

Identification of project stakeholders is an element of effective project management. Other aspects of effective project management include identification of problems and ways of resolving them, authority building, and positive attitude to politics. In order to achieve their goals, project managers - just like politicians - have to master the art of influencing.

According to the idea of PM Forum, after the experts speech the evening continued with a more informal discussion on various aspects of project management at a buffet dinner. It was an opportunity to share project management experiences not only with other participants, but also with instructors teaching at MT&DC e.g.- George Sifri and Urban Aderklint.
